“ Vegan health food that is also cheap is unheard of these days. Even if you don't like soul food, this is a place you have to check out at least once. Dining here is an experience of its own. FOOD Welcome Bowl (12 for regular size): First of all, the portions are extremely generous for the price. We got the regular size instead of the large, and it was still more than enough for a single person. The bowl comes with various carbs and vegetables, and they're seasoned to perfection. Each bite is juicy and explodes with flavor. It does the word soul food justice. Lentil patty (11): So good. The patty is closer to a healthy veggie patty instead of those super processed vegan meats. The mustard sauce inside is super yummy and complements the veggies and patty nicely. The sandwich tastes very "healthy". SERVICE You order at a counter. They accept cash and card. You sit down, and they bring your food to a table. The person at the register was really nice and acted like she truly cared about her customers. She answered all of our questions and guided us when we seemed confused. The kitchen was a bit slow to bring out the food, but that's usually a good sign that a restaurant is putting care into their cooking, and not cutting corners and taking shortcuts. FACILITIES/INTERIOR They have a restroom in the back. Just follow the hallway to the right of the counter. It was clean and everything was stocked properly. The interior is super casual and homey. I love that they incorporated cultural aspects into the decor. I also thought it was cool that they sold various different products like deodorant, candles, and even clothes! ”

“ 5 star food for real! My family and I are on the Daniel fast. We were hungry and needed to eat. We went online and decided to try this place. The guys that served us were kind. They gave us additional food items to try since it was our first time there. We ordered one large plate for everyone to eat from. I didn't want to waste money if we didn't like it. My husband loved every bite. My daughter raved over the fried cauliflower and mushrooms. I loved the greens. I definitely recommend this place. ”

“ Absolutely love it! From the 1st day, I will be becoming a loyal customer. I prefer the black eyed peas, over the red beans. The welcome plate is. The dinner deluxe is great, I just don't like greens/red beans, I prefer their black eyed peas instead. Veggie, lentil sandwich . Lentil burger. Raw or fried protein: cauliflower, walnut meat, carrot tuna, chickpea tuna, mushrooms, and lentil fritters. Raw and cooked sides: cold/hot mac, purple cabbage, rice, black eyed peas, mixed veggies, kale salad. Soups: potato chowder, veggie lentil. Tacos, bachos, and babarit excellent choice. ”

“ Food was great! Lentil fritters with the habanero sauce was our favorite. Everyone here is friendly and chill, it’s a whole vibe. Other people like the ginger juice and peanut stew. I’m coming back for the peanut stew. They also sell African clothes, beauty products and home goods ”

“ I am a meat eater and loved the flavor of every single item ordered. I got the dinner plate and had 7 items that represented authentic soul food that reminded me of home (Chicago). Will def be back! They have open mic on Saturday’s at 2PM. ”
